What we built in, and what we haven't tested yet.
Built in
- WCAG 2.2 Level AA is the target.
- Skip link, full keyboard use, and a bright yellow focus outline you can't miss on the dark background.
- Every text colour measured against its background. The lowest contrast on the site is 6.5 to 1, well over the 4.5 to 1 minimum.
- Chat stories are real text, not images. Each message tells a screen reader who said it.
- The decorative “typing” dots are hidden from screen readers and only animate if your device allows motion.
- The loud script font is only used for short lines, never for reading.
- Ad spaces are labelled as ads.
Not tested yet
Nobody who uses a screen reader every day has tested the site yet. Once ads run, we also can't fully control how accessible an ad network's ads are, but we'll report problems to them.
